Sony launches mobile gaming division

Sony has launched its mobile gaming division. The gaming giant officially announced the news in a press release. From Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) (via Business Wire), which reads:
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of Sony’s gaming division.

In 2021, it is rumored to be completed. And after speculation, Sony has confirmed that PlayStation games could come to mobile in May of the same year.
It’s all in an effort to expand Sony’s gaming experience.

For fans and gamers around the world across the platforms, they can play on. To that end, the company acquired Savage Game Studios to help achieve that goal.
In fact, Sony’s acquisition of Savage Game Studios is proof that their plans are going well. Earlier in 2022, SIE President and CEO Jim Ryan shared that Sony plans. To buy more studios after acquiring developer Destiny Bungie in February 2022.

What we know about Sony’s mobile games division

Here are a few things we’ve learned about Sony’s mobile games division. For one thing, it’s aptly called “PlayStation Studios’ Mobile Division.” This division is completely separate from the company’s dashboard development department.

PlayStation Studios Mobile Division will create games. That can be played on the go using new and existing PlayStation intellectual properties. Savage Game Studios is the first studio we know of to develop a mobile game from Sony.

Its co-founders, Michail Katkoff, Nadjim Adjir, and Michael McManus, have extensive experience in mobile game development. They are some of the brains behind famous mobile game developers like Rio, Zynga, Wargaming, and more.

The team at Savage Game Studios is up and running with a new AAA mobile live-service action game being released. This is a big step forward for Sony, so let’s take a look at why it’s making. It’s way into mobile gaming.

Why did Sony launch the mobile game segment?

Sony recognizes that the gaming industry is constantly evolving and needs to catch up. As the head of PlayStation Studios, Hermann Holst, explained in a press release:
It goes without saying that Sony is the biggest gaming company in the world. However, Sony is known for its game consoles. According to Mordor Intelligence, mobile gaming is the most popular gaming platform.
This is largely due to people turning to mobile gaming for entertainment.

During the COVID-19 pandemic-related lockdown and the fact that mobile gaming is more accessible than other forms of gaming…
After these initial breakdowns, the mobile games market is valued at $198.40 billion in 2021 and is expected to reach $339.95 billion by 2027. By establishing a mobile games division, it is clear that Sony is planning a strategy to stay ahead.

Sony enters the mobile game market

Sony has established itself as one of the major players in the gaming industry. By expanding into PC and direct service gaming, Sony is moving towards dominating the mobile gaming market.
With the team at Savage Game Studios joining Sony’s PlayStation Studios mobile division. Sony is on the right track and we can’t wait to see what the team does.
